Pregnancy, Birth & Postpartum

A holistic perinatal care plan can include:

- Co-creating birth preferences to meet your wellbeing needs

- Communication approaches which support you to feel confident in asserting your maternal healthcare rights and expressing your wants and needs to your partner, family and health-care providers

- Relaxation techniques for labour and birth, including somatic fear-release methods

- Counselling support to prepare for labour and birth

- Postnatal de-briefing about your birth story or perinatal experience, and postpartum screening for grief, anxiety and depresssion

- 4th trimester coping strategies and support with early parenting

- Ongoing wellbeing check-ins and safety planning as required.

Why perinatal counselling?

The journey of 'matrescence' can last a lifetime. Your identity as a mother, and an individual, is constantly evolving and although this process is meaningful, it can also involve intense feelings of loss, grief or guilt, as well as unaddressed physical and emotional trauma or other mental health challenges which, when exacerbated by a lack of sleep and self-care, can disrupt bonding and your connection with others.

Perinatal counselling sessions can help with intentional planning for emotional healing and recovery, and feeling more supported in prioritising your own wellbeing needs. Please get in touch to find out more.

"Natalie helped me work through all my thoughts, emotions and deep fears until we uncovered the type of birth I actually wanted to have. In the weeks and months following, she helped us transition to life with a baby, debrief about the birth and helped me get support for postnatal depression and anxiety."
